James Francis Checchio (born April 21, 1966 in Camden , United States ) is an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Metuchen .

Life

James F. Checchio was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Camden on June 20, 1992 .

From 2003 to 2006 he was Vice - Rector of the Pontifical North America College, responsible for its administration and then headed the College as Rector until 2016.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Metuchen on March 8, 2016 . He was ordained episcopal on May 3 of the same year by the Archbishop of Newark , John Joseph Myers . Co- consecrators were his predecessor Paul Gregory Bootkoski and the Bishop of Camden, Dennis Joseph Sullivan .
