Francis Frederick Reh (born January 9, 1911 in the Bronx , New York City , † November 14, 1994 ) was a Roman Catholic bishop .

Live and act

Reh attended Cathedral College Preparatory Seminary in New York City, St. Joseph Seminary in Yonkers , New York and finally the Pontifical North America College in Rome and the Pontifical Gregorian University . He was ordained a priest in Rome on December 8, 1935 . Then Reh returned to the Archdiocese of New York , where he was now active. In 1951 he was appointed Vice Chancellor of the Archdiocese. In that year he received the papal honorary title monsignor and became vice-rector of the Pontifical North America College.

Four years later, Reh became principal of St. Joseph Seminary in New York. In the same year he accompanied Cardinal Francis Spellman to Rome in October , where he attended the conclave , during which Cardinal Angelo Roncalli became the new Pope John XXIII. was elected, participated.

On June 4, 1962, Reh was named Bishop of Charleston . The episcopal ordination received his Cardinal Spellman on 29 June of the same year. Co-consecrators were the New York Auxiliary Bishops John Joseph Maguire and John Michael Fearns .

Two years later he was called to Rome, where he became rector of the Pontifical North America College on September 5 and titular bishop of Macriana in Mauretania , which he remained until his appointment as Bishop of Saginaw on December 11, 1968. Reh resigned on April 29, 1980 from this office.
