Paul John Hallinan (born April 8, 1911 in Painesville , Ohio , USA , † March 27, 1968 in Atlanta , Georgia ) was Archbishop of Atlanta .

Life

Paul John Hallinan received on 20 February 1937, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On September 9, 1958, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Charleston . The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Amleto Giovanni Cicognani , gave him on 28 October of the same year in the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Charleston , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Cleveland , Edward Francis Hoban , and the Auxiliary Bishop of Cleveland, John Joseph Krol . The inauguration took place on November 25, 1958.

On February 19, 1962, Pope John XXIII appointed him . to the Archbishop of Atlanta. The inauguration took place on March 29 of the same year.
