Stephen Stanislaus Woznicki

Stephen Stanislaus Woznicki (born August 17, 1894 in Miners Mill , Pennsylvania , † December 10, 1968 ) was a Roman Catholic bishop .

Woznicki attended SS. Cyril & Methodius College , the seminary in Orchard Lake , Michigan, and the St. Paul Seminary in Saint Paul , Minnesota . His ordination took place on December 22, 1917 in the local Cathedral of Saint Paul . Afterwards Woznicki worked as a priest in the Archdiocese of Detroit .

On December 13, 1937 he was appointed by Pope Pius XI. appointed auxiliary bishop in Detroit and titular bishop of Peltae . On January 25, 1938, the Archbishop of Detroit, Edward Aloysius Mooney , donated him episcopal ordination . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Marquette , Joseph Casimir Plagens and the Coadjutor Bishop of Scranton , William Joseph Hafey .

On March 28, 1950 Woznicki was from Pope Pius XII. appointed Bishop of Saginaw to succeed the late William Francis Murphy . He held this office until his resignation on October 30, 1968. Instead he became titular bishop of Thiava . Woznicki died on December 10th of the same year.
