William Joseph Hafey

William Joseph Hafey (born September 19, 1888 in Springfield , Massachusetts , USA ; † May 12, 1954 ) was Bishop of Scranton .

Life

William Joseph Hafey received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Baltimore on May 16, 1914 .

Pope Pius XI appointed him Bishop of Raleigh on April 6, 1925 . The Archbishop of Baltimore, Michael Joseph Curley , ordained him episcopal on June 24 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Springfield , Thomas Mary O'Leary , and the Bishop of Savannah , Michael Joseph Keyes SM .

On September 22, 1937, Pope Pius XI appointed him. as coadjutor bishop of Scranton and titular bishop of Appia . With the death of Thomas Charles O'Reilly on March 25, 1938, he followed this as Bishop of Scranton.
