Slobodan Samardžić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Слободан Самарџић , * 1953 in Belgrade , Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian politician and former Minister for Kosovo .

His parents came from Serbian families in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro .

Slobodan Samardžić studied political science and philosophy at the University of Belgrade , but also in Frankfurt, Göttingen, Friborg and Brussels and worked for Radio Belgrade from 1982 to 1984. In 2001 he became Professor of European Studies at the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Belgrade. His main research interests are federalism and constitutionalism.

Samardzic speaks German as well as English. He has two sons and a daughter.

Slobodan Samardžić is a member of the Democratic Party of Serbia, founded by Vojislav Koštunica in 1992 and was Minister for Kosovo in its government from May 2007 to July 2008. As such, he took part in the Vienna Troika negotiations on the future of Kosovo and presented a six-point plan for the "functional" division of Kosovo between Albanians and Serbs.
