The Diocese of Victoria in Texas ( Latin : Dioecesis Victoriensis in Texia ) is a Roman Catholic diocese located in Texas in the United States , with its seat in Victoria .

history

Pope John Paul II founded it on April 13, 1982 from cession of the dioceses of Corpus Christi and Galveston - Houston and was subordinated to the Archdiocese of San Antonio as a suffragan diocese.

On December 29, 2004, it became part of the Ecclesiastical Province of Galveston-Houston.

The Diocese of Victoria in Texas includes the counties of Calhoun, Colorado, DeWitt, Goliad, Jackson, Lavaca, Matagorda, Victoria e Wharton. of the state of Texas. It also includes part of Fayette County south of the Colorado River.
