Brendan Cahill (born November 28, 1963 in Coral Gables , Florida ) is an American clergyman and bishop of Victoria, Texas .

Life

Brendan Cahil attended Saint Mary's Seminary and studied psychology and theology at the University of Saint Thomas in Houston , where he graduated with a Master of Divinity . He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston on May 19, 1990 .

After ordination, he served as a chaplain in Houston and Spring . During this time he earned a Masters Degree in African American Studies from Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans. From 1994 to 1998 he stayed in Rome for further studies. In 1996 he graduated from the Pontifical Gregorian University with a degree in dogmatics and in 1999 he received his doctorate theologiae .

From 1998, he taught at Saint Mary's Seminary , the rain he worked from 2001 by 2010. He then headed the archbishop's secretariat for the training and engagement of the clergy until 2014. Since 2014 he has been Episcopal Vicar for the clergy .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Victoria in Texas on April 23, 2015 . He was ordained episcopal by the Archbishop of Galveston-Houston, Cardinal Daniel DiNardo , on June 29 of the same year. Co- consecrators were his predecessor, Archbishop Joseph Anthony Fiorenza , and his predecessor as Bishop of Victoria in Texas, David Eugene Fellhauer .
