Joseph Anthony Fiorenza (born January 25, 1931 in Beaumont ) is Old Archbishop of Galveston-Houston .

Life

Joseph Anthony Fiorenza was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Galveston on May 29, 1954 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of San Angelo on September 4, 1979 . The Archbishop of San Antonio , Patrick Fernández Flores , ordained him episcopal on October 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were John Louis Morkovsky , Bishop of Galveston-Houston, and John Edward McCarthy , Auxiliary Bishop of Galveston-Houston.

He was named Bishop of Galveston-Houston on December 6, 1984 and inducted into the office on February 18 of the next year. With the elevation of the diocese to the archbishopric on December 29, 2004, he was appointed Archbishop of Galveston-Houston. On February 28, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
