Stephen Aloysius Leven

Stephen Aloysius Leven (born April 30, 1905 in Blackwell , Oklahoma , † June 28, 1983 ) was an American clergyman and bishop of San Angelo .

Life

Stephen Aloysius Leven received the sacrament of ordination for the Diocese of Oklahoma on June 10, 1928 .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on December 3, 1955 titular bishop of Bure and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of San Antonio . He received his episcopal ordination on February 8 of the following year by the Bishop of Oklahoma City and Tulsa , Eugene Joseph McGuinness ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Dallas-Fort Worth , Thomas Kiely Gorman , and the Bishop of Paterson , James Aloysius McNulty .

Leven attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as the Council Father.

Pope Paul VI appointed Leven Bishop of San Angelo on October 20, 1969 .

On April 24, 1979, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
