The Diocese of Dallas ( Latin : Dioecesis Dallasensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese located in Texas in the United States , with its seat in Dallas .

history

The Diocese of Dallas was on July 15, 1890 by Pope Leo XIII. established from cessions of territory by the diocese of Galveston . In 1891 parts of the area of ​​the Vicariate Apostolic Arizona were assigned to the Diocese of Dallas . On October 20, 1953, the Diocese of Dallas was renamed the Diocese of Dallas-Fort Worth . The diocese of Dallas-Fort Worth was divided on August 9, 1969 into the dioceses of Dallas and Fort Worth . The diocese of Dallas gave several times in its history parts of its territory to establish new dioceses. It is subordinate to the Archdiocese of San Antonio as a suffragan .

The territory of the Diocese of Dallas includes the counties of Collin , Dallas , Ellis , Fannin , Grayson , Hunt , Kaufman , Navarro and Rockwall in northern Texas .
