history

The Diocese of Gary was founded on December 10, 1956 by Pope Pius XII. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Postulant quandoque from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Fort Wayne and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Indianapolis as a suffragan .
