Andrew Gregory Grutka

Andrew Gregory Grutka (born November 17, 1908 in Joliet , Illinois , USA ; † November 11, 1993 ) was the first bishop of Gary .

Life

Andrew Gregory Grutka received on 5 December 1933, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 29, 1956, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the first bishop of Gary. The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Amleto Giovanni Cicognani , donated him episcopal ordination on February 25, 1957 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Kansas City-Saint Joseph , John Cody , and the Bishop of Fort Wayne , Leo Aloysius Pursley .

On July 9, 1984, Pope John Paul II accepted Andrew Gregory Grutka's resignation because of his age.
