The Diocese of Jefferson City ( lat. : Dioecesis Civitatis Jeffersoniensis ) is in the United States located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Jefferson City .

history

The diocese was established on July 2, 1956 from different areas of the Archdiocese of Saint Louis and the Diocese of Saint Joseph .

The founding bishop , Joseph Mary Marling CPPS , began at the request of Peruvian fellow bishops in 1962 to send diocesan priests from his diocese to Peru as Fidei Donum priests , particularly in parishes in the diocese of Puno . At times 10% of the clergy of the Jefferson City diocese were missionaries in Peru.
