The Roman Catholic Diocese of Trenton ( lat. : Dioecesis Trentonensis , Engl. : Diocese of Trenton ) is in the United States located Roman Catholic diocese based in Trenton , New Jersey .
history
The diocese of Trenton was on August 2, 1881 by Pope Leo XIII. Erected from territory ceded by the Diocese of Newark . On December 9, 1937, the Diocese of Trenton gave parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Camden . Another assignment of territory took place on November 19, 1981 to establish the Diocese of Metuchen .
The Diocese of Trenton is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Newark as a suffragan .
