The Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau ( lat . : Dioecesis Campifontis-Capitis Girardeauensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese located in Missouri in the United States and has its seat in Springfield .
history
Pope Pius XII founded it on July 2, 1956 from cession of territory by the diocese of Saint Joseph and the archdiocese of Saint Louis , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese.
