John Joseph Leibrecht (born August 8, 1930 in Overland ) is Former Bishop of Springfield-Cape Girardeau .

Life

The Archbishop of Saint Louis , Cardinal Joseph Elmer Ritter , ordained him a priest on March 17, 1956 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Springfield-Cape Girardeau on October 20, 1984 . He received his episcopal ordination from the Archbishop of Saint Louis, John Lawrence May , on December 12 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Bernard Francis Law , Archbishop of Boston , and Glennon Patrick Flavin , Bishop of Lincoln .

On January 24, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
