Edward Matthew Rice (born July 28, 1960 in St. Louis ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Springfield-Cape Girardeau .

Life

Saint Louis Auxiliary Bishop James Terry Steib SVD ordained him a deacon on May 3, 1986, and Saint Louis Archbishop John Lawrence May ordained him a priest on January 3, 1987 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on December 1, 2010 auxiliary bishop in Saint Louis and titular bishop of Sufes . He received his episcopal ordination from the Archbishop of Saint Louis, Robert James Carlson , on January 13 of the next year; Co- consecrators were Richard Frank Stika , Bishop of Knoxville , and John Raymond Gaydos , Bishop of Jefferson City .

On February 26, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Springfield-Cape Girardeau . The inauguration took place on June 1 of the same year.
