Oliver von Bohlen and Halbach

Oliver von Bohlen und Halbach (born December 8, 1966 in Nuremberg ) is a German neuroanatomist , neurobiologist and professor at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald . He comes from the von Bohlen and Halbach family .

Live and act

After completing school at Droste-Hülshoff-Gymnasium in Meersburg , von Bohlen und Halbach studied biology at the University of Konstanz from 1989 and received his doctorate in 1998 from the Humboldt University in Berlin. He then worked at the Johannes Müller Institute for Physiology at the Charité and then moved to the Institute for Anatomy and Cell Biology at the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg . In 2008 he was appointed adjunct professor there. Since 2009 he has been professor of anatomy and cell biology at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald.

research

His main research interests are learning and memory in the limbic system , the role of adult neurogenesis and the dendritic spinous processes in learning processes, the function of growth factors such as fibroblast growth factors in the brain and neurodegenerative diseases .
