William Aloysius Griffin

William Aloysius Griffin (born November 20, 1885 in Elizabeth , New Jersey , USA ; † January 1, 1950 ibid) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Trenton .

Life

William Aloysius Griffin attended St. Patrick High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Griffin studied philosophy at Seton Hall College in South Orange and Catholic theology at Immaculate Conception Seminary in South Orange. He received on 15 August 1910, the sacrament of Holy Orders . William Aloysius Griffin was pastor of the parishes of St. John Church and St. Augustine in Newark .

On February 26, 1938, Pope Pius XI appointed him . the titular bishop of Sanavus and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Newark . The Archbishop of Newark, Thomas Joseph Walsh , donated him episcopal ordination on May 1 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Buffalo , John Aloysius Duffy , and the Bishop of Trenton, Moses Elias Kiley . On May 18, 1940, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Trenton.
