The Rockwall County is a county in the state of Texas of the United States . The county seat is in Rockwall .

The county is located northeast of the geographic center of Texas, is about 80 km to the north from Oklahoma and belongs to the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex . It has an area of ​​385 square kilometers, of which 52 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Collin County , Hunt County , Kaufman County, and Dallas County .

history

Rockwall County was formed in 1873 from parts of Kaufman County. It was named after the town of the later county of the same name.

According to the 2000 census , Rockwall County had 43,080 people in 14,530 households and 11,972 families. The population density was 129 inhabitants per square kilometer.
