The Crosby County is a county in the state of Texas of the United States . The county seat is in Crosbyton . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

The county is located northwest of the geographic center of Texas and covers an area of ​​2,335 square kilometers, of which 6 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Floyd County , Dickens County , Garza County, and Lubbock Counties .

history

Crosby County was formed on August 21, 1876 from parts of Bexar County and Young County , and the administrative organization was completed on September 11, 1886. It was named after Stephen Crosby (1808-1869), a high administrative officer in Texas and steamship captain.
