The Parker County is a county in the state of Texas of the United States . The county seat is in Weatherford .
geography
The county is located about 120 km northeast of the geographic center of Texas, belongs to the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex and has an area of 2357 square kilometers, of which 17 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Wise County , Tarrant County , Johnson County , Hood County , Palo Pinto County, and Jack County .
history
Parker County was formed on December 2, 1855 from parts of Bosque County and Navarro County . The administrative organization was completed on March 11 of the following year. The origin of the name is not completely clear, either it was named after Isaac Parker or the family of Cynthia Ann Parker (1825–1871). Isaac Parker served in the Texan War of Independence and was a member of the State Legislature of the Republic of Texas and the state of Texas. Cynthia Ann was Isaac's nephew and was abducted by the Comanches as a child . She later married Chief Peta Nocona and had a son, Quanah Parker , with him . Cynthia Ann refused to return to the settlers and stayed with the Comanches.
Five structures and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) as of March 28, 2020, including Chandor Gardens , Parker County Courthouse, and Weatherford Downtown Historic District .

According to the 2000 census , Parker County had 98,495 people in 31,131 households and 24,313 families. The population density was 38 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 83.17 percent white, 1.79 percent African American, 0.67 percent Native American, 0.35 percent Asian, 0.02 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 12.61 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.38 percent were descended from two or more races. 7.02 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 31,131 households, 38.0 percent had children or young people living with them. 65.6 percent were married couples living together, 8.7 percent were single mothers and 21.9 percent were non-families. 18.3 percent were single households and 7.1 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.11 people.
27.5 percent of the population was under 18 years old, 7.9 percent between 18 and 24, 29.8 percent between 25 and 44, 24.2 percent between 45 and 64, and 10.5 percent were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 104.1 males and for every 100 females age 18 or over there were 102.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $ 45,497 , and the median income for a family is $ 51,530. Males had a median income of $ 37,913 versus $ 25,412 for females. The per capita income was $ 20,305. 5.9 percent of families and 8.3 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
