The Kimble County is a county in the state of Texas of the United States . The county seat is in Junction .
geography
The county is located about 25 miles southwest of the geographic center of Texas and covers an area of 3,240 square kilometers, of which 1 square kilometer is water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Menard County , Mason County , Gillespie County , Kerr County , Edwards County, and Sutton Counties .
history
Kimble County was formed in 1858 from parts of Bexar County . It was named after George C. Kimbell , a defender in the Battle of the Alamo .
Three structures in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) as of March 13, 2020, Brambletye and two bridges on State Highway 27.

Kimble County had a population of 4,468 people as of the 2000 census ; 1,866 households and 1,285 families were counted. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 90.3 percent white, 0.1 percent African American, 0.3 percent Native American, 0.5 percent Asian and 7.5 percent from other ethnic groups; 1.3 percent were descended from two or more races. 20.7 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 1,866 households, 28.2 percent had children or adolescents living with them. 57.2 percent were married couples living together, 8.6 percent were single mothers and 31.1 percent were non-families. 28.6 percent were single households and 16.0 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.90 people.
23.6 percent of the population was under 18 years old, 6.0 percent between 18 and 24, 22.6 percent between 25 and 44, 26.9 percent between 45 and 64 and 20.9 percent were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 92.7 males and for every 100 females age 18 or over there were 90.5 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 29,396 , and the median income for a family is $ 34,966. Males had a median income of $ 24,844 versus $ 20,431 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,127. 13.4 percent of families and 18.8 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
