The Burleson County is a county in the state of Texas of the United States . The county seat is in Caldwell .
geography
The county is east of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of 1755 square kilometers, of which 32 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Robertson County , Brazos County , Washington County , Lee County, and Milam County .
history
Burleson County was formed on March 24, 1846 from parts of Milam County and the administrative organization was completed on July 13 of the same year. It was named after Edward Burleson (1798-1852), a general during the Texas Revolution and a member of the Texas Senate .
Two homes in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) as of October 4, 2018.

According to the 2000 census , Burleson County had 16,470 people; 6,363 households and 4,574 families were counted. The population density was 10 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 74.07 percent white, 15.06 percent African American, 0.50 percent Native American, 0.17 percent Asian, 0.02 percent from the Pacific island area and 8.25 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.92 percent were descended from two or more races. 14.64 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 6,363 households, 31.9 percent had children or young people living with them. 56.4 percent were married couples living together, 11.4 percent were single mothers, and 28.1 percent were non-families. 24.9 percent were single households and 12.4 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.08 people.
26.9 percent of the population was under 18 years old, 8.0 percent between 18 and 24, 25.8 percent between 25 and 44, 23.2 percent between 45 and 64 and 16.1 percent were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 94.7 males and for every 100 females age 18 or over there were 91.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $ 33,026 , and the median income for a family is $ 39,385. Males had a median income of $ 28,795 versus $ 20,146 for females. The per capita income was $ 16,616. 13.2 percent of families and 17.2 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
