The Parmer County is a county in the state of Texas of the United States . The county seat is in Farwell . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

The county is located in northwest Texas, in the Texas Panhandle , essentially bordering New Mexico and has an area of ​​2293 square kilometers, of which 9 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Deaf Smith County , Castro County , Lamb County , Bailey County, and Curry Counties in New Mexico.

history

Parmer County was formed on August 21, 1876 from parts of Bexar County . The administrative organization was completed on May 7, 1907. It was named after Martin Parmer (1778–1850). He fled to Louisiana in 1827 after the failure of the Fredonian Rebellion and returned after his pardon in 1835. He was a member of the State Legislature of the Republic of Texas and a signatory of its Declaration of Independence.
