Reagan County is a county in the state of Texas in the United States . The county seat is in Big Lake .

The county is located in west central Texas and has an area of 3,044 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Glasscock County , Sterling County , Irion County , Crockett County, and Upton County .
history
Reagan County was formed in 1903 from parts of Tom Green County . It was named after John Henninger Reagan , a Confederate Post Secretary , later US Senator and leader of the Democratic Party in Texas.

As of the 2000 census , Reagan County had 3,326 people in 1,107 households and 872 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 64.64 percent white, 3.01 percent African American, 0.54 percent Native American, 0.27 percent Asian and 29.56 percent from other ethnic groups; 1.98 percent were descended from two or more races. 49.49 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 1,107 households, 46.8 percent had children or young people living with them. 68.1 percent were married couples living together, 7.2 percent were single mothers, and 21.2 percent were non-families. 19.8 percent were single households and 7.5 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.96 and the average family size was 3.42 people.
34.2 percent of the population was under 18 years old, 7.6 percent between 18 and 24, 28.1 percent between 25 and 44, 19.9 percent between 45 and 64 and 10.3 percent were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 100.5 males and for every 100 females age 18 or over there were 100.5 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 33,231 , and the median income for a family is $ 36,806. Males had a median income of $ 31,228 versus $ 18,750 for females. The per capita income was $ 13,174. 9.3 percent of families and 11.8 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
