The San Patricio County is a county in the state of Texas of the United States . The county seat is in Sinton .

geography

The county is located in southeast Texas, borders the Gulf of Mexico and has an area of ​​1831 square kilometers, of which 40 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Bee County , Refugio County , Aransas County , Nueces County , Jim Wells County, and Live Oak County .

history

San Patricio County was formed in 1846 from parts of Refugio County. It was named after the Mexican town of San Patricio .

According to the 2000 census , San Patricio County had 67,138 people in 22,093 households and 17,232 families. The population density was 37 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 76.76 percent white, 2.81 percent African American, 0.70 percent Native American, 0.63 percent Asian, 0.11 percent from the Pacific island area and 15.94 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 3.05 percent were descended from two or more races. 49.42 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
