Aransas Pass is a city in San Patricio County , Aransas County and Nueces County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located in three different counties in southeast Texas, on Redfish Bay on the Gulf of Mexico , about 33 km northeast of Corpus Christi and has a total area of 134.3 km², of which 106.5 km² is water. The distance to San Antonio in the northwest is about 230 km, to Houston in the northeast about 280 km.
economy
The main sources of income are tourism, fishing, breeding and processing, deep-sea fishing, and oil and gas exploration on the mainland.

According to the 2000 census, 8,138 people in 2,961 households and 2,140 families lived here. The population density was 292.6 inhabitants per km ². The racial population is made up of 80.58% White, 3.44% African American, 0.76% Native American, 0.45% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, and 11.28% other ethnic groups. About 3.47% are of two or more races, and 37.70% of the population are Spanish or Latin American.
Of the 2,961 households, 34.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 54.1% of them were married couples living together. 13.4% were single mothers and 27.7% were non-families. 23.1% of all households were single households and 10.0% had people living there who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.70 and the average family size was 3.17.
28.4% of the population were under 18 years old, 9.4% 18 to 24, 25.4% 25 to 44, 22.3% 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 97.5 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 95.0 men.
