The Swisher County is a county in the state of Texas of the United States . The county seat is Tulia . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

The county is located in northwest Texas, in the Texas Panhandle , is 80 km to the west from New Mexico , about 150 km to the north and about 120 km to the east from Oklahoma . It has an area of ​​2333 square kilometers, of which 1 square kilometer is water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Randall County , Armstrong County , Briscoe County , Floyd County , Hale County, and Castro Counties .

history

Swisher County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County and Young County . It was named after James Gibson Swisher , a soldier of the Texas Revolution .
