The Coryell County is a county in the state of Texas of the United States . The county seat is in Gatesville .
geography
The county is located about 50 km northeast of the geographic center of Texas and has an area of 2,737 square kilometers, of which 13 square kilometers are water. It is bordered by counties in a clockwise direction: Bosque Counties , McLennan Counties , Bell Counties , Lampasas Counties , and Hamilton Counties .
history
Coryell County was formed on February 4, 1854 from parts of Bell County. It was named after James Coryell (1803-1837), a border guard and Texas ranger who explored silver mines with James Bowie and was killed by Indians.
Three buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of October 23, 2018).

After the census in 2000 74 978 people lived in Coryell County. 16,932 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 19,950 households and 15,780 families. The population density was 28 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 65.28 percent white, 21.80 percent African American, 0.88 percent Native American, 1.75 percent Asian, 0.49 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 6.26 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 3.54 percent were from two or more races. 12.57 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 19,950 households, 47.7 percent had children or young people living with them. 64.8 percent were married couples living together, 11.0 percent were single mothers, and 20.9 percent were non-families. 16.9 percent were single households and 5.5 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.91 and the average family size was 3.27 people.
26.2 percent of the population was under 18 years old, 17.9 percent between 18 and 24, 36.3 percent between 25 and 44, 13.8 percent between 45 and 64 and 5.7 percent were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 28 years. For every 100 females there were 105.3 males and for every 100 females aged 18 years or over there were 106.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $ 35,999 , and the median income for a family was $ 38,307. Males had a median income of $ 24,236 versus $ 21,186 for females. The per capita income was $ 14,410. 7.8 percent of families and 9.5 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
