The Reeves County is a county in the state of Texas of the United States . The county seat is in Pecos .

The county is located in the west of Texas, borders with the northern tip on New Mexico and has an area of 6,843 square kilometers, of which 16 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Eddy County , New Mexico, Loving County , Ward County , Pecos County , Jeff Davis County, and Culberson County .
history
Reeves County was formed in 1883 from parts of Pecos County. It was named after George Robertson Reeves , a lawyer and general in the Confederate Army .

As of the 2000 census , Reeves County had 13,137 people in 4,091 households and 3,129 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 79.33 percent white, 2.10 percent African American, 0.51 percent Native American, 0.35 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 15.03 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 2.68 percent were descended from two or more races. 73.38 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 4,091 households, 38.8 percent had children or young people living with them. 59.6 percent were married couples living together, 12.4 percent were single mothers and 23.5 percent were non-families. 21.6 percent were single households and 10.1 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.93 and the average family size was 3.45 people.
29.9 percent of the population was under 18 years old, 11.3 percent between 18 and 24, 25.2 percent between 25 and 44, 21.0 percent between 45 and 64 and 12.6 percent were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 112 males and for every 100 females age 18 or over there were 115.4 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $ 23,306 , and the median income for a family is $ 24,856. Males had a median income of $ 23,913 versus $ 13,248 for females. The per capita income was $ 10,811. 25.4 percent of families and 28.9 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
