The Randall County is a county in the state of Texas of the United States . The county seat is in Canyon .

The county is located in northwest Texas, in the Texas Panhandle , about 70 km to the west from New Mexico and about 120 km to the north from Oklahoma . It has an area of 2389 square kilometers, of which 21 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Potter County , Armstrong County , Swisher County , Castro County, and Deaf Smith Counties .
history
Randall County was formed in 1876 from parts of Bexar County . It was named after Horace Randal , a general in the Confederate Army .

Randall County's population was 104,312 as of the 2000 census . 1,766 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 41,240 households and 28,785 families. The population density was 44 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 90.44 percent white, 1.50 percent African American, 0.65 percent Native American, 1.03 percent Asian, 0.03 percent from the Pacific island area and 4.71 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.64 percent were from two or more races. 10.27 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 41,240 households, 33.9 percent had children or young people living with them. 57.5 percent were married couples living together, 9.2 percent were single mothers and 30.2 percent were non-families. 25.4 percent were single households and 8.5 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3.00 people.
26.1 percent of the population was under 18 years old, 11.2 percent between 18 and 24, 28.4 percent between 25 and 44, 22.4 percent between 45 and 64 and 11.9 percent were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 94.7 males and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 91.2 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 42,712 , and the median income for a family is $ 52,420. Males had a median income of $ 36,333 versus $ 25,358 for females. The per capita income was $ 21,840. 5.7 percent of families and 8.1 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
