The county is located in north Texas, borders Oklahoma to the north and has an area of ​​2533 square kilometers, of which 18 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Jackson County and Tillman Counties , both in Oklahoma, Wichita Counties , Baylor Counties , and Foard Counties .

history

Wilbarger County was formed in 1858 from parts of Bexar County . It was named after Josia and Mathias Wilbarger , two brothers and early settlers in the area.

As of the 2000 census , Wilbarger County had 14,676 people in 5,537 households and 3,748 families. The population density was 6 people per square kilometer.
