Charles Victor Grahmann

Charles Victor Grahmann (born July 15, 1931 in Hallettsville , Texas , † August 14, 2018 in San Antonio , Texas) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Dallas .

Life

Charles Victor Grahmann was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of San Antonio on March 17, 1956 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in San Antonio and titular bishop of Equilium on June 30, 1981 . The Archbishop of San Antonio, Patrick Fernández Flores , ordained him episcopal on August 20 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Sidney Matthew Metzger , Bishop Emeritus of El Paso , and John Louis Morkovsky , Bishop of Galveston-Houston .

He was named first bishop of Victoria, Texas , on April 13, 1982, and was inducted into the office on May 29 of that year. He was named coadjutor bishop of Dallas on December 9, 1989, and inducted into office on December 18 of the same year. After Thomas Ambrose Tschoepes retired , he succeeded him on July 14, 1990 as Bishop of Dallas. On March 6, 2007, Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
