Hallettsville is the district capital and county seat of Lavaca County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located at the junction of US Highway 77 and US Highway 90A , 150 km east of Austin just north of the county center in southeastern Texas, is 130 km in the southeast from the Gulf of Mexico and has a total area of ​​5.8 km² without any significant body of water.

The place was named after John Hallett, one of the first settlers, who settled here in 1831 and donated the land for the place in 1836.
