Logan Ondrusek (born February 13, 1985 in Hallettsville , Texas ) is an American Major League Baseball player. He has been a pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds since 2010 .

Career

Minor League (2005-2009)

Ondrusek was selected in the 2005 MLB Draft by the Reds in the 13th round. He initially played in the minor league with the Billings Mustangs from Montana . In 2006, after a good development, he continued to play for the Billings Mustangs, as well as for two other minor league teams of the Reds. These were the Dayton Dragons and the Chattanooga Lookouts . In 2007, Ondrusek played for the Sarasota Reds and was 22 times starting pitcher and 9 times relief pitcher. A year later, he was not only used for the Sarasota Reds, but also for the first time for the Louisville Bats . In 2009 he therefore completed a few games for a total of three minor league teams of the Reds (Sarasota, Carolina and Louisville).

Cincinnati Reds (2010-present)

In December 2009, the management of the Reds decided to appoint him to the 40-man squad for the upcoming season so that he could not have been signed by other MLB teams from the minor league. On April 5, 2010, Ondrusek made his debut for the Reds in the game against the St. Louis Cardinals and did not allow an opposing point as a pitcher in the 8th inning . But he could not build on these solid first performances so quickly and in the meantime had an ERA of over 10, which is why he was briefly sent back to the minor league in Louisville. There he only played briefly, as he soon returned to the professional squad due to the many injuries. The pros saw an enormous increase in performance and on July 23, 2010 he had his first win in the game against the Houston Astros . In the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies , he was used as a pitcher for a total of two innings and did not allow a run . In the next season he continued to come to his bets, but he was not allowed to throw longer than one inning in most games. In addition, the Reds were denied a return to the play-offs , as they were only third in their division , the National League Central , behind the Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals.
