Coral Gables is a city in Miami-Dade County in the US state of Florida with 46,780 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Coral Gables is located on Biscayne Bay and borders Miami directly to the southwest . Other neighboring communities include West Miami , South Miami , Pinecrest and Palmetto Bay .
climate
The climate is mild and warm, with a light wind from the sea. Statistically, it rains an average of 30 percent of the days in the summer months, even if only briefly. The highest temperatures are in May to October, with up to 31 ° C. The coldest months from December to February with an average low temperature of only 17 ° C. Snowfall is almost unknown in the region.

Coral Gables was designed by George E. Merrick , an urban planning visionary and pioneer of New Urbanism .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 46,780 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 20,266 households. The population density was 752.1 inh / km². 91.0% of the population identified themselves as whites , 3.0% as African American , 0.1% as Indians and 2.7% as Asian Americans . 1.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.8% to several ethnic groups. 53.6% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010, children under the age of 18 lived in 27.0% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 29.8% of all households. 62.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.35 people and the average family size was 2.94 people.
24.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 21.5% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 39 years. 47.3% of the population were male and 52.7% were female.
The median annual income was $ 88,167, with 8.9% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 43.82% of the population, 51.05% spoke Spanish and 5.13% had another mother tongue.

Coral Gables is crossed and tangent to US Highways 1 ( SR 5 ) and 41 and Florida State Roads 90 , 953 , 959 and 976 . The city is connected to the Miami-Dade Metrorail via the University and Douglas Road stations towards downtown Miami and the airport. The Miami airport is located 6 km north of the city.

The crime rate in 2010 was 254 points (US average: 266 points) in the average range. There were two murders, three rapes, 35 robberies, 53 assaults, 376 break-ins, 1,512 thefts, 65 car thefts and one arson.
