Richmond Heights is a census-designated place (CDP) in Miami-Dade County in the US state Florida with 8541 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Richmond Heights is about 15 km southwest of Miami . The CDP is affected by Florida State Roads 821 ( Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike , toll) and 992 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 8,541 inhabitants were distributed over 2,945 households. The population density was 1986.3 inh / km². 22.8% of the population identified themselves as whites, 72.1% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 0.4% as Asian Americans . 1.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.8% to several ethnic groups. 25.0% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010, children under the age of 18 lived in 39.5% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 35.8% of all households. 78.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.10 people and the average family size was 3.48 people.

26.7% of the population were younger than 20 years, 23.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 21.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 39 years. 45.9% of the population were male and 54.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 36,150, with 21.5% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 87.30% of the population and Spanish was spoken by 12.70%.
