Naranja is a census-designated place (CDP) in Miami-Dade County in the US state of Florida with 8,303 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Naranja is about 35 km southwest of Miami . The CDP is affected by US Highway 1 and Florida State Road 821 ( Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike , toll).

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 8,303 inhabitants were distributed over 3005 households. The population density was 2129.0 inh / km². 47.9% of the population identified themselves as whites , 41.3% as African-Americans , 0.3% as Indians and 2.3% as Asian Americans . 5.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.0% to several ethnic groups. 51.6% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 55.8% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 14.2% of all households. 79.2% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.27 people and the average family size was 3.59 people.

37.5% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 32.5% were 20 to 39 years old, 21.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 8.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 27 years. 48.1% of the population were male and 51.9% were female.

The median annual income was $ 28,652, with 40.5% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 66.26% of the population, 28.14% spoke Spanish and 5.60% had another mother tongue.
