Florida City is a city in Miami-Dade County in the US state of Florida with 11,245 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Florida City is located approximately 25 miles southwest of Miami and borders the city of Homestead .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 11,245 inhabitants were distributed over 3,792 households. The population density was 1354.8 inh / km². 39.1% of the population identified themselves as whites , 52.4% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 0.3% as Asian Americans . 5.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.6% to several ethnic groups. 42.4% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 52.0% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 20.0% of all households. 74.8% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.38 people and the average family size was 3.86 people.
38.8% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 29.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 21.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 10.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 27 years. 47.5% of the population were male and 52.5% were female.
The median annual income was $ 25,434, with 45.2% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 65.63% of the population, 28.33% spoke Spanish and 6.03% spoke Haitian .

On August 14, 1973, the Florida Pioneer Museum was inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places .

US Highway 1 and Florida State Road 997 run through Florida City . In addition, the SR 821 ( Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike , toll road) ends here from the north .
crime
The crime rate in 2010 was 1,214 points (US average: 266 points) in the very high range. This makes Florida City the most dangerous city in Miami-Dade County. There were 95 robberies, 210 personal injuries, 244 break-ins, 917 thefts and 52 car thefts in 2010.
