Olympia Heights is a census-designated place (CDP) in Miami-Dade County in the US state of Florida with 13,488 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Olympia Heights is located around ten kilometers west of Miami and is crossed or affected by Florida State Roads 826 ( Palmetto Expressway ), 874 ( Don Shula Expressway , toll), 973 and 976 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 13,488 inhabitants were distributed over 4114 households. The population density was 1899.7 inh / km². 95.2% of the population identified themselves as whites , 1.2% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 0.6% as Asian Americans . 1.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.0% to several ethnic groups. 85.8% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 48.5% of all households lived in 34.6% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 81.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.23 people and the average family size was 3.41 people.

20.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 21.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 28.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 29.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 46 years. 48.1% of the population were male and 51.9% were female.

The median annual income was $ 54,110, with 16.4% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 19.56% of the population and 80.44% spoke Spanish .
