Hialeah Gardens is a city in Miami-Dade County in the US state of Florida with 21,744 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Hialeah Gardens is located approximately 6 miles northwest of Miami and borders the Hialeah and Medley communities .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 21,744 inhabitants were distributed over 6,629 households. The population density was 3345.2 inh / km². 92.9% of the population identified themselves as whites , 2.2% as African American , 0.1% as Indians and 1.7% as Asian Americans . 2.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.4% to several ethnic groups. 94.9% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 46.3% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 32.0% of all households. 85.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.37 people and the average family size was 3.54 people.

29.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 26.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 18.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 39 years. 47.9% of the population were male and 52.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 42,672, with 16.3% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 4.31% of the population and 95.68% spoke Spanish .

Hialeah Gardens is adjacent to US Highway 27 and Florida State Roads 25 , 821 ( Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike , toll) and 826 ( Palmetto Expressway ). The Miami airport is located 8 km southeast of the city.

The crime rate in 2010 was 311 points (US average: 266 points) in the average range. There were three rapes, 17 robberies, 32 assaults, 119 break-ins, 792 thefts, 78 car thefts and four arson attacks.
