Palmetto Bay is a municipality in Miami-Dade County in the US state of Florida with 23,410 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Palmetto Bay is 12 km southwest of Miami on Biscayne Bay . Adjacent communities are Coral Gables , Pinecrest, and Cutler Bay .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 23,410 inhabitants were distributed over 8,372 households. The population density was 1,040.4 inh / km². 84.9% of the population identified themselves as white , 6.2% as African American , 0.1% as Native American and 4.5% as Asian Americans . 2.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.1% to several ethnic groups. 38.6% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 25.2% of all households lived in 43.2% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 82.5% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.95 people and the average family size was 3.25 people.
29.2% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 18.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 34.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 17.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 42 years. 48.5% of the population were male and 51.5% were female.
The median annual income was $ 106,017, with 6.4% of the population living below the poverty line.

On March 11, 1986, the Charles Deering Estate was entered on the National Register of Historic Places .
traffic
The municipality is affected in the west by US Highway 1 ( SR 5 ). The Miami International Airport is about 20 km north of Palmetto Bay.
