West Perrine is a census-designated place (CDP) in Miami-Dade County in the US state of Florida with 9460 inhabitants (as of 2010).

West Perrine is about 15 km southwest of Miami . The CDP is affected by Florida State Road 821 ( Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike , toll), US Highway 1 and Florida State Road 994 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 9460 inhabitants were distributed over 3342 households. The population density was 2102.2 inh / km². 30.9% of the population identified themselves as whites , 62.7% as African-Americans , 0.3% as Indians, and 1.0% as Asian Americans . 2.9% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.2% to several ethnic groups. 31.7% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 43.8% of all households and persons aged 65 and over in 28.1% of all households. 75.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.18 and the average family size was 3.60.

31.4% of the population were younger than 20 years, 26.5% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 15.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 34 years. 47.3% of the population were male and 52.7% were female.

The median annual income was $ 36,729, with 25.7% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 79.75% of the population, 17.78% spoke Spanish and 2.47% spoke Haitian .
