Westview is a census-designated place (CDP) in Miami-Dade County in the US state of Florida with 9650 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Westview is directly adjacent to the cities of Hialeah , Opa-locka and North Miami and is about 10 km north of Miami . Florida State Roads 9 , 916 , 924 and 932 cross or touch the CDP .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 9,650 inhabitants were distributed over 3,251 households. The population density was 1191.4 inh / km². 23.7% of the population identified themselves as whites , 69.5% as African-Americans , 0.3% as Indians and 0.2% as Asian Americans . 3.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.8% to several ethnic groups. 29.6% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 36.2% of all households lived in 37.8% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 72.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.11 people and the average family size was 3.62 people.

26.1% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 26.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 20.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 38 years. 46.9% of the population were male and 53.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 34,571, with 20.7% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 68.38% of the population, 20.61% spoke Spanish and 11.01% had another mother tongue.
