Virginia Gardens is a municipality in Miami-Dade County in the US state of Florida with 2375 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Virginia Gardens is 4 km west of Miami and is immediately north of Miami International Airport . To the north, the community borders Miami Springs .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 2375 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 949 households. The population density was 2968.8 inh / km². 90.7% of the population identified themselves as white , 2.7% as African American and 1.7% as Asian Americans . 2.8% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.1% to several ethnic groups. 77.3% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 29.6% of all households lived in 33.8% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 65.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.64 people and the average family size was 3.27 people.

23.9% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 24.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 21.4% were 60 years or older. The mean age was 41 years. 48.4% of the population were male and 51.6% were female.

The median annual income was $ 47,902, with 5.7% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 71.66% of the population and 28.33% spoke Spanish .

The crime rate was 81 points in 2010 (US average: 266 points) in the low range. There were two personal injuries, six break-ins, 13 thefts and six car thefts.
