Hialeah is a city in Miami-Dade County in the US state of Florida with 224,669 inhabitants (as of 2010). After Miami , Hialeah is the largest city in Miami-Dade County and the Miami metropolitan area .
geography
Hialeah is located approximately 3 miles northwest of Miami. Adjacent communities are Miami Springs , Medley , Hialeah Gardens , Miami Lakes, and Opa-locka .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 224,669 inhabitants were distributed over 74,067 households. The population density was 4511.4 inh / km². 92.6% of the population identified themselves as whites , 2.7% as African American , 0.1% as Indians and 0.4% as Asian Americans . 2.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.6% to several ethnic groups. 94.7% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 41.4% of all households lived in 38.3% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 78.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.13 people and the average family size was 3.38 people.
27.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 28.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 24.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 42 years. 48.3% of the population were male and 51.7% were female.
The median annual income was $ 31,096, with 21.6% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, Spanish was the mother tongue of 92.14% of the population, 7.37% spoke English and 0.49% had another mother tongue.

Hialeah is crossed or affected by Interstate 75 , US Highway 27 and Florida State Roads 25 , 112 ( Airport Expressway ), 823 , 826 ( Palmetto Expressway ), 924 ( Gratigny Parkway , toll), 934 and 953 . In the east, the Tri-Rail line with the Hialeah Market and Tri-Rail and Metrorail Transfer Station stops in a north-south direction. The Transfer Station is a crossing station where the Tri-Rail meets the Miami-Dade Metrorail suburban train . The Okeechobee and Hialeah Metrorail stations are located in Hialeah. The Miami airport is located close to the south of the city and can be reached among others, the Tri-Rail.
