Jeanne Golay

Jeanne Marie Golay (born April 16, 1962 in Coral Gables , Florida ) is a former American cyclist .

Jeanne Golay was one of the dominant female cyclists in America from the late 1980s to the 1990s. Nine times she was American champion in cycling , individual time trials and team time trials . In 1992 she became three-time national champion in these three disciplines, which no other driver has achieved so far.

In 1991, Golay won the gold medal in road racing at the Pan American Games in Havana . In 1992 and 1996 she started at the Olympic Games. In 1992 in Barcelona she was sixth in the road race. In 1996 in Atlanta, she became the first American female cyclist to compete in three disciplines - road racing, individual time trial and points trial - at the Olympic Games . She won a total of five medals at the UCI Road World Championships . Her bronze medal at the UCI Road World Championships in Agrigento in 1994 is the last world championship medal for an American cyclist for the time being.

In 2008, Jeanne Golay was inducted into the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame .
