Coryn G. Rivera (born August 26, 1992 in Garden Grove ) is an American cyclist.

Athletic career

Coryn Rivera's parents immigrated to the United States from the Philippines . Her father had already competed in motocross races in his home country , and in the USA he took part in motorcycle and mountain bike races. Due to injuries, he eventually switched to road cycling . Coryn Rivera took with her father on a tandem on tour rides part. At the age of eleven she started a bike race for the first time, which she also won.

In 2010 Rivera won the bronze medal in the road race of the juniors at the road world championships , in the individual time trial she finished tenth. In 2011 she won a stage of the Tour Féminin en Limousin . In 2014 she got a contract with the women's team of the UnitedHealthcare team , for which she drove for three years. The following year, she decided a stage of the Thuringia Tour for herself, which she succeeded again in 2016. In the same year she started the road world championships in the race of the elite and finished 16th.

In 2017, Coryn Rivera won the Trofeo Alfredo Binda for the first time, a race that is part of the UCI Women's WorldTour . On April 2, 2017, she recorded the greatest success of her career to date by winning the Tour of Flanders in the mass sprint. In September of that year she became world champion in the team time trial with the Sunweb team . In 2018 she won two stages and the points classification of the Thuringia Tour , she also won the second stage of the Women's Tour and then the overall ranking. In addition, Coryn Rivera became American road racing champion for the first time after she had already won 71 national championship titles in various cycling disciplines and age groups. At the UCI Road World Championships in 2018 , she took third place with the Sunweb team in the team time trial.
